After consultations with its fellow G7 countries, Japan has announced that the Shima Summit is scheduled for May 26-27, 2016. The timing was chosen in part to avoid the rainy season that might affect the leaders' transportation by helicopter to the summit site from Nagoya.
Asked if Russia will be invited, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said no decision had been taken. He also said that the dates and locations for the ministerial meetings had not yet been decided. Some sources have said the foreign ministers will meet in Hiroshima.
