Statement

Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Canada, and Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vie-President of the European Commission, Toronto, April 22, 2018

Canada and the EU know that advancing gender equality is essential to both our economic prosperity, and to global peace and security.

To further advance this commitment, today, Canada and the European Union are pleased to announce that we will co-host a meeting in Canada this September where all women foreign ministers will be invited.

The first women's foreign ministers' meeting will be a unique opportunity to bring all women foreign ministers together to discuss today's pressing global challenges and to harness the incredible expertise of this group of world leaders.
