Statement of G7 Ambassadors regarding the judicial reform in Ukraine

May 27, 2016

  1. G7 Ambassadors reiterate the importance of the judicial reform in Ukraine, prior to the second reading of the draft law on amending the Constitution of Ukraine as to Justice at the Verkhovna Rada next week. We recall the judicial reform is a backbone of all the reforms in Ukraine to regain public trust and promote further foreign investments.
  2. G7 Ambassadors commend and support the efforts of the Government, relevant authorities and civil society in Ukraine to implement its reforms and raise awareness of their importance in the society. We encourage them to continue their efforts, in particular, for a fight against corruption and the judicial reform, including the Prosecutor General's Office, as clearly stated in the G7 Ise-Shima Leaders' Declaration at the G7 Summit held in Japan on May 26 and 27, 2016.
